What's on your mind?

Why Adult-ish exists

When you're overwhelmed, it's difficult to see the bigger picture. Things that might seem straightforward to someone else can feel impossible when you're the one carrying them.

There are specialists for all sorts of things, but finding the right help takes work in itself. You have to identify the problems, work out what support you need, find the right people and coordinate everything. You end up being both the project manager and the person responsible for doing the work.

When you're already struggling, that's an enormous amount to ask of yourself.

Adult-ish exists because sometimes, you need someone alongside you to help make sense of it all. Someone who can help you see what's going on, work out what needs attention and find a way forward.

What Adult-ish is

Adult-ish is practical, personal support for the things in life that have become difficult to manage — the kind where someone rolls their sleeves up and gets stuck in with you, not just talks about what might help.

That might mean life admin, organising your home, tackling a task you've been putting off, or making sense of a backlog that won't shift on its own. I do the actual work: research, emails, forms, sorting, planning, phone calls — or we do it together, side by side, until it's done.

Sometimes I'll take something off your hands and handle it start to finish. Sometimes I'll guide you through it step by step. And when the same difficulties keep coming up, we'll look at ways of making things easier to manage in the future.

You're the expert on your own life. My role is to bring practical help where you need it — to take weight off your shoulders and get things moving in a way that works for you.

You might need help with

  • A house move
  • A business idea
  • A room that needs sorting
  • A mountain of life admin
  • An event to organise
  • A career change
  • A big life change
  • A completely random problem
  • A trip you're planning

How it works

There's no expectation that you should be able to do everything alone, and no need to have all the answers before we start.

  1. The Brain Dump

We start by talking through what's going on. Tell me everything — messy thoughts welcome: voice notes, screenshots, scribbled lists, or “I don't even know where to start.”

You don't need to have everything figured out, know exactly what you need, or have a plan. That's something we'll work on together.

I'll listen, ask the right questions and work out where I can help. If I think someone else would be better placed to help, I'll tell you that too.

The Brain Dump is completely free, with no obligation to work with me afterwards.

  2. The Plan

Every Adult-ish plan is bespoke. We'll untangle the different things weighing on you, separate the problems and work out what needs to happen next.

I'll go away, work out what needs doing and come back to you with a plan based on the support you need:

    • What needs doing
    • What I can take off your plate
    • Anything that needs outsourcing
    • How I'll approach it
    • Roughly how long it'll take
    • What it'll cost

Some plans will be simple. Others might need a little more detail. Either way, you'll know what happens next.

  3. I get on with it

We can work together in whatever way suits you.

Once you're happy with the plan, I'll get stuck in. I can take tasks off your hands, guide you through something you're struggling with, or work alongside you while you tackle it yourself.

If the same difficulties keep coming up, we can also look at building systems that make life easier to manage in the future.

I'll keep you updated along the way and, where needed, check in for decisions or information. Otherwise, you can get on with your life while I get on with the job.

Services

There isn't one right way to tackle a problem. Sometimes you need someone to take something off your hands. Sometimes you need a little help getting started. And sometimes, you need to work out why something keeps becoming difficult in the first place.

We'll start with a free Brain Dump, talk through what's going on, and work out what kind of support would be most useful for you.

  1. Adulting: Outsourced

I'll take care of the things you need off your plate.

Some things just need doing. Whether it's sorting out an awkward bit of admin, getting on top of an inbox or working through a task you've been putting off, I can take care of it with you or for you.

If you'd like to understand how to do it yourself next time, I can talk you through what I've done, too.

Good for: Life admin, online forms where I can appropriately support you, research, emails, phone calls, appointments and other specific tasks.

  2. Adulting: With Supervision

We'll work through the task side by side.

Sometimes you know what needs doing, but getting yourself to do it is the difficult part. We can work through things side by side, break a task into manageable steps and figure out the next move together.

You stay in control. I'm there to help make the task feel less overwhelming.

Good for: Tackling a backlog, organising paperwork, decluttering, getting started on life admin or working through a task that feels bigger than it is.

  3. Adulting: Let's Rework the System

We'll find a way to make everyday life easier.

If the same things keep becoming difficult, it might be worth looking at what's behind them. Together, we can explore what's getting in the way, work out what would make things easier and build practical systems that suit the way you actually live.

The aim isn't to create another set of rules to keep up with. It's to find something that works for you.

Good for: Repeated admin overwhelm, moving house, creating manageable routines, organising digital spaces or finding a better way to manage recurring responsibilities.

What might it cost?

Every person's circumstances are different, so I don't offer rigid packages with a fixed list of tasks. The time and type of support you'll need depend on what's happening and what would genuinely help.

The examples below give you an idea of what working together might look like, how long it could take and what it might cost at my standard rate of £30 per hour. They're illustrative scenarios, not fixed-price offers or guarantees.

I don't want money to be the reason you go without support that could make a difference.

I offer a limited number of lower-cost spaces for people experiencing financial difficulty. The support is the same; the rate is simply lower. These spaces are limited, but if the standard rate would make things difficult for you, please tell me when we speak. You don't need to explain or justify your circumstances in detail.

These spaces are partly supported by the Adult-ish Community Jar, where people who can afford to contribute a little extra help make support more accessible to someone else.

These examples are for guidance only. Actual time and cost will depend on your circumstances, the agreed tasks and the level of support you need. I'll discuss the scope and estimated cost with you before any paid work begins. If something changes along the way, we'll talk about it before going beyond what we've agreed.

Not sure what you need?

That's completely fine. You don't need to arrive with a plan, a tidy list or even a clear idea of where to start.

We'll begin with a free Brain Dump. You can talk through what's been going on, and we'll work out what might help, what that could involve and what it would cost.

There's no obligation to book paid support afterwards.

Questions?

  • Who is Adult-ish for?

Adult-ish is for anyone who feels like life has got a little too overwhelming.

You might be a busy professional juggling work and everything else. You might be neurospicy and find that the everyday admin other people seem to breeze through takes a lot more energy (I see you boo). You might be going through a big change, starting something new or just have a growing list of things that you can't seem to get around to.

You don't need to have a particular reason or have everything figured out. If there's something you'd like a hand with, you're welcome here.

  • Do I need to know exactly what I need or structure my thoughts?

No. Honestly, no. It's part of my job to help you figure that out. I know the feeling of tidying up before the cleaner comes — but you really don't need to do that here. You don't need to organise your thoughts before bringing them to me. Come as you are.

  • Isn't this something I could do myself?

Probably. I could paint my own house, service my own car or cut my own hair. The question isn't whether you can do something yourself - it's about actually finding the time, energy or headspace to do it. That's where I can help.

  • Is the Brain Dump really free?

Yes. It's completely free and there's no obligation to work with Adult-ish afterwards. If, after chatting, you decide my services aren't right for you, that's entirely fine! The Brain Dump is there to work out what you actually need - even if the answer is that Adult-ish isn't the right fit.

The Adult-ish Community Jar

Sometimes, we have a little more to give. Sometimes, we're the ones who need a hand.

The Community Jar helps fund lower-cost sessions for people who might otherwise struggle to afford practical support. If you're in a position to contribute, you can help make that support more accessible to someone else.

There's no expectation to give. Every contribution is voluntary.

I'm working on researching and implementing a payment system for us to be able to do this. For now, if you'd like to contribute to the jar please email me.
In the meantime, have fun playing with the animation.

The Community Jar currently holds £5.

Nothing has to fit neatly into a box.

You're human. You're not meant to do everything alone. Life gets busy. Things pile up. Sometimes you just need a hand. Bring me whatever you've got. We'll figure it out together.
